About the author

Matt Mansell is a church elder and lifelong reader of speculative fiction who has followed Jesus for thirty years. He lives in Wellington, New Zealand, with his wife and four children.

He has been looking for Christian fantasy that takes its theology seriously for most of his reading life, and eventually wrote the series he could not find. The Chronicles of the Awakening is built on a coherent Christian cosmology: not allegory, not a world where Christianity is a background assumption, but a world where the story of Scripture is simply true and the characters have to reckon with it.

Alongside the fantasy writing, he is developing How to Invade a Planet: a science fiction serial anthology exploring human agency, the ethics of intervention, and whether humanity's capacity for violence is inherent or circumstantial.

By day he works as a strategy and organisational design consultant. The same instinct runs through both the consulting and the fiction: diagnose the problem space, imagine a better future state, and build the path between them.
